As I begin my role as NAHQ President, I want to share my excitement about the opportunity to advance our profession and to establish the critical importance of your role in a quickly changing healthcare environment that requires our knowledge and leadership. I am committed to continuing the great work of NAHQ in providing leading-edge training and certification for quality professionals. I am empowered by NAHQ’s efforts to position healthcare quality and its professionals as leaders in this new era of healthcare – one that demands the demonstration of improved patient and financial outcomes to meet new goals for value in healthcare. Quality lies at the center of this transformation. As the knowledgeable and prepared stewards of quality, we have become even more vital in leading our organizations amid this change.
In December 2018, NAHQ launched a landmark workforce study to keep healthcare quality professionals at the leading edge, we built bridges with other professional organizations to advance our goals and launched an industry call-to-action for Quality Driven Healthcare. If you haven’t already, please download, read, and share our recently released white paper that emphasizes the need to incorporate quality as the key pillar in organizational business strategy.
I share the passion for our future leadership and am also deeply proud to represent you and support your efforts as healthcare quality professionals. We can drive industry transformation by helping our healthcare organizations achieve and sustain new levels of quality improvement.
2019 promises to be full of more milestones with an innovative line-up of products and resources planned. Be sure to check the NAHQ website for upcoming activities to support you, your colleagues, and your staff team, that include:
- Hosting three CPHQ Review Courses at NAHQ headquarters in Chicago and co-host several throughout the U.S. this year. You will find the dates and locations of confirmed Review Courses on the NAHQ Events Calendar. Or, if you have just started looking into earning the CPHQ, register for an upcoming CPHQ Info Session. You will also find these dates and links on the Events Calendar.
- Accepting accepting abstracts for NAHQ Next. We are looking for breakout session speakers and poster presenters to share healthcare quality knowledge and best practices at our landmark conference. The deadline has been extended to January 25, and I invite you to submit your abstract and share this opportunity with your colleagues.
As we embark on this new year, NAHQ renews its commitment to you and the important role you serve every day as healthcare quality professionals.
Wishing you all the best in 2019!
