Kristin Anne Garrett, MSN, RN, CNOR, CPHQ, is an accomplished healthcare executive with more than 25 years of progressive clinical, operational, regulatory, and patient safety leadership experience within Cone Health. As Director of Clinical Compliance and Regulatory Services for the Cone Health system, she provides enterprise-level leadership for regulatory readiness, clinical compliance, patient safety infrastructure, grievance management, and required regulatory reporting. She also serves as Section 1557, Civil Rights, and Section 504 Coordinator, advancing organizational accountability for equitable, accessible, and compliant care delivery. Her portfolio includes oversight of complex regulatory response activities, survey readiness, sentinel event and complaint response planning, policy development, performance improvement, and cross-functional collaboration with senior leaders across the health system. Kristin is recognized for translating regulatory expectations into sustainable operational practices, strengthening systems of accountability, and supporting high reliability through proactive risk assessment, root cause analysis, and measurable improvement strategies. Prior to her system leadership role, Kristin held multiple operative services leadership positions, including Department Director of Operative Services for Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital. In these roles, she led large multidisciplinary teams, managed complex surgical operations, supported financial and human resource stewardship, advanced performance improvement, and strengthened service-line operations across high-acuity perioperative environments. Kristin holds a Master of Science in Nursing with a Nursing Leadership concentration from East Carolina University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is certified as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality and Certified Nurse in Perioperative Nursing and has completed advanced development in healthcare analytics, patient safety, and regulatory and accreditation practices. Her professional contributions include publication, national presentations, education, and service through leading healthcare quality and perioperative nursing organizations. Her leadership reflects a sustained commitment to governance, continuous readiness, patient safety, regulatory excellence, and systemwide improvement in support of safe, effective, and patient-centered care.
