NAHQ Volunteer Teams

NAHQ recently launched a new governance structure to support the Board's most recent strategic plan. To make the path to volunteering transparent and more accessible to our members, anyone interested in serving in an appointed volunteer position must meet the following criteria while serving as a NAHQ volunteer. Specific criteria based on volunteer positions are outlined in the teams charters (i.e., must be a current Fellow to serve on the Fellowship Review Team). 

NAHQ Board and Strategic Advisory Committee (SAC) Chairs must:  

  • Be an active NAHQ member  
  • Be an active CPHQ  
  • Have led a large team and work in a complex organization in a leadership role
  • Be an advocate and ambassador for NAHQ's programs
  • Have a primary role in quality - strong demonstration of quality throughout their career
  • Disclose potential conflicts of interest

SAC Members must:  

  • Be an active NAHQ member  
  • Be an active CPHQ, strongly encouraged   
  • Disclose potential conflicts of interest  

NAHQ Team Members must:  

  • Be an active NAHQ member - except, when necessary, per the team description   
  • Disclose potential conflicts of interest 

Below are NAHQ's teams that are seeking new members and a brief description of how they contribute to the growth and success of NAHQ and the profession.   

Abstract Review Task Team

The Abstract Review Task Team has been established by the NAHQ Board of Directors to provide specialized expertise aligning with the Individual Point of Arrival: NAHQ is the professional home and THE trusted resource for Healthcare Quality Competencies, training, and certifications. Reporting to the Conference Planning Team, the Abstract Review Task Team assists in planning NAHQ NEXT the only annual conference designed exclusively for the profession.

Awards Team

The Awards Team has been established by the NAHQ Board of Directors to provide specialized expertise aligning with the Individual Point of Arrival advancing NAHQ as the professional home and THE trusted resource for Healthcare Quality Competencies, training, and certifications. Reporting to the Individual Strategic Advisory Council (ISAC), the Awards Team reviews applications and selects the best candidates for NAHQ awards.he Awards Team reviews applications and selects the best candidates for NAHQ awards. 

Fellowship Review Team

The Fellowship Review Team has been established by the NAHQ Board of Directors to provide specialized expertise aligning with the Individual Point of Arrival advancing NAHQ as the professional home and THE trusted resource for Healthcare Quality Competencies, training, and certifications. Reporting to the Individual Strategic Advisory Council (ISAC), the Fellowship Review Team reviews and selects qualified candidates for NAHQ Fellowship, coordinates the Fellow Coaching Program and promotes Fellowship.

Healthcare Quality Certification Commission (HQCC)

The HQCC has been established by the NAHQ Board of Directors and is the certifying arm of NAHQ that establishes policies, procedures, and standards for certification and recertification programs in the field of healthcare quality, namely the Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) and aligning with the aligning with the Individual Strategic Advisory Council (ISAC).

Healthcare Quality Foundation (HQF) Grants Team

The Healthcare Quality Foundation Grants Team reviews applications and select the best candidates for HQF’s grants.   

Item Writing Work Group

The Item Writing Work Group is responsible for maintaining and updating the content of the Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality® (CPHQ) test item (question) bank through the writing of new items (test questions) to coincide with the most up-to-date CPHQ exam content outline. 

Test Development Team

Reporting to the Healthcare Quality Certification Commission (HQCC), the TDT is tasked each year with reviewing the current Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality® (CPHQ) exam, analyzing the questions, and ensuring that the test fully encompasses the knowledge and skills needed to become a CPHQ.
