NAHQ has always embraced strategic collaborations that align with our mission of preparing a coordinated, competent workforce to lead and advance healthcare quality. The first half of 2020 has yielded numerous such opportunities with several prominent healthcare organizations and academic institutions.

The collaborative spirit is in full force with NAHQ NEXT, a fully virtual experience slated for September 14-16, and content collaborations, including: Patient Safety Movement Foundation (PSMF), the Accountable Care Learning Collaborative (ACLC), the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), and the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua). Join us and engage with leaders from these organizations along with some of the nation’s largest health systems and government agencies, including:

Jean Moody-Williams, RN MPP
Deputy Director of the Center for Clinical Standards and Quality and Acting Consortium Administrator, Consortium of Survey and Certification and Quality Improvement
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services

Alexander Garza, MD MPH
Chief Medical Officer
SSM Health

Jean Gelrud, RN MSN CPHQ FACHE
Senior Vice President
Health Plan and Hospital Quality
Kaiser Permanente

Alen Vartan, MPH CPHQ
Executive Director
National Health Plan and Hospital Quality
Kaiser Permanente

And, our network of academic collaborations continues to grow, with universities joining NAHQ in an effort to reduce variability in healthcare delivery by reducing variability in healthcare quality competencies. Recently, Western Governors University became the first academic institution to align several of its graduate-level programs with NAHQ’s industry standards. And Georgetown University has hardwired quality and safety components into its executive master’s program in clinical quality, safety and leadership and is working with NAHQ to prepare its students to sit for the Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality® (CPHQ) exam. Other academic programs also recognize the CPHQ for master’s-level credit and some provide tuition savings for NAHQ members.

As the COVID-19 pandemic escalated, NAHQ and other healthcare associations banded together to share resources for healthcare professionals facing the unprecedented challenges of the healthcare crisis. We all agreed there was no better way to mobilize our collective knowledge than to help the industry manage the evolving pandemic. Remember to access these complimentary resources in the NAHQ COVID-19 Resource Center.

We have all known it would take a coordinated effort to make much-needed changes in healthcare. These collaborations represent NAHQ’s commitment to assuming a leadership role in making an impact and facilitating improvements in healthcare quality across the nation and around the world.

Thank you for all you do. Stay strong and stay well.
