Healthcare professionals engaged in quality encouraged to join nearly 13,000 others worldwide in earning only accredited certification in healthcare quality
CHICAGO (April 19, 2021) — The National Association for Healthcare Quality® (NAHQ) announced today it is offering healthcare professionals engaged in the work of quality the opportunity to save 20% for a limited time as they prepare to earn the Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality® certification. The CPHQ Prep Package (offered at a reduced price through May 2, 2021) includes the CPHQ Online Review Course, a copy of the HQ Solutions textbook and access to a 130-question Comprehensive Pre-Test, which assesses a professional’s readiness to sit for the CPHQ exam.
“The pandemic has illuminated the necessary alignment of healthcare quality with foundational issues of patient safety, value-based care and equity in the eyes of healthcare executives,” said Stephanie Mercado, NAHQ’s CEO and Executive Director. “Today, more of these executives are ready to embrace quality and are looking to the quality leaders who stepped up during the pandemic to provide the same level of leadership in the next challenge – the race to value.”
Any healthcare professional can earn the CPHQ, and nearly 13,000 hold the industry-standard certification today globally. The exam is proctored in testing centers across the world as well as online via a remote-proctored environment, Mercado said. CPHQs can now also showcase their earned credential and be recognized among their peers via a digital badge that can be claimed and leveraged across social media profiles, digital resumes and more.
The CPHQ is rooted in NAHQ’s industry-standard, twice-validated Healthcare Quality Competency Framework, which consists of eight domains, 29 competency statements and 486 associated skill statements, which are stratified across Foundational, Proficient and Advanced levels. The Framework’s purpose is to help healthcare professionals and organizations reduce variability in healthcare delivery by reducing variability in healthcare quality competencies. The Framework has been validated twice in the marketplace, Mercado said.
“Our research tells us CPHQs work at higher levels of competency when compared to non-CPHQs in all eight domains of NAHQ’s Healthcare Quality Competency Framework. CPHQs also spend more time on their professional development,” Mercado said. “For these reasons and others, CPHQs are increasingly called upon to solve problems and demonstrate their indispensable value in areas ranging from process and performance improvement, to population health, to health data analytics and elsewhere within the domains of healthcare quality.”
The CPHQ Online Review Course is an on-demand offering that takes an estimated 15 hours to complete. Total preparation for the exam is typically 40-80 hours. The HQ Solutions textbook serves as a valuable desk reference for healthcare professionals as they engage in the work of quality. The Comprehensive Pre-Test can be taken as often as needed during the course of the 12-month subscription to the prep course.
The National Association for Healthcare Quality® (NAHQ) is the only organization dedicated to healthcare quality professionals, defining the standard of excellence for the profession, and equipping professionals and organizations across the continuum of healthcare to meet these standards. NAHQ believes that to reduce variability in healthcare delivery, we must first reduce variability in healthcare quality competencies, so we focus our efforts on competency development and setting standards in this regard. NAHQ published the first and only Healthcare Quality Competency Framework and validated it twice in the market. We offer the only accredited certification in healthcare quality, the Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality® (CPHQ), extensive educational programming, networking opportunities and career resources to help healthcare leaders and staff demonstrate their value.
