NAHQ offers new live digital prep and exam completion options for CPHQ®

Healthcare quality professionals can earn gold-standard certification remotely amid social-distancing restrictions

CHICAGO (May 11, 2020) – The National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ), in compliance with National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) accrediting standards through their new exception program due to COVID-19 has received approval to offer live remote proctoring (LRP) for the Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality® (CPHQ) designation, the industry’s only accredited certification in healthcare quality. Additionally, NAHQ has begun offering – for the first time in its more than 40-year history – live, instructor-led online CPHQ prep courses to ready CPHQ candidates for their examThis shift to online exam prep and proctoring has been driven by the closure of testing sites worldwide due to COVID-19.

Additionally, NAHQ will offer all CPHQ prep and exam products at a 25% discount through May 26, 2020.

“The pursuit of healthcare quality and patient safety does not stop because of a global health crisis. If anything, it only amplifies the importance of quality,” said Stephanie Mercado, NAHQ CEO and Executive Director. “By leveraging technology, NAHQ can continue to fulfill its mission to equip healthcare quality professionals with the knowledge, tools and gold-standard credential to support their healthcare facilities, systems and communities at a critical time.”

NAHQ is offering its CPHQ exam online, proctored through PSI Services, to candidates who had prepared individually or with co-workers in recent monthsThe live remote proctoring tool retains the rigor, high-security standards and close monitoring of the in-person testing environment to maintain the integrity of the credential, Mercado said.

“I want to acknowledge the NCCA for recognizing the urgent need and high demand for this virtual proctoring vehicle at a time when social distancing precludes in-person exam completion,” Mercado said. “As we enter a post-COVID environment, ensuring healthcare quality professionals continue to have options to accelerate their readiness by earning this credential will be paramount to maintaining high quality levels in healthcare facilities and systems everywhere.”

NAHQ’s virtual, instructor-led courses connect healthcare quality professionals with experienced instructors in an online classroom setting. Courses include interactive lectures, quizzing, live Q&A and intersession activities, all focused on building knowledge of the CPHQ content areas and preparing for the certification exam. NAHQ includes its desk reference eBook, HQ Solutions, with this program.

We recognize healthcare quality professionals are busy serving on the front lines of this pandemic,” Mercado said. “By structuring this exciting new delivery format to include live interactions for only a couple hours per day over two weeks, as well as weekly study hall sessions where learners can calibrate informally with their instructor, NAHQ enables exam preparers to effectively juggle this pursuit within the context of their other professional responsibilities.”
