Are You Ready to QAPI? Be Prepared for an Unannounced Quality Survey
Presenter: Ellen J. Evans, MSN MPH CPHQ CJCP CPPS RN
This session is intended to provide education to quality and clinical leaders on the CMS QAPI program so that they are prepared for an unannounced visit by CMS on this topic. CMS has increased the number of surveyors who are surveying and the QAPI tool is applied whenever a question of quality arises in a complaint or during the survey. The primary purpose of this presentation is to ensure that quality leaders are aware of all of the elements of a QAPI visit and are well prepared for a potential unannounced visit. Participants will take away critical knowledge and strategies to ensure that they are in compliance with the QAPI standards. This is important to healthcare because not only is this a requirement for CMS compliance, but utilization of the tool ensures that the organization is focused on quality and able to demonstrate improvement in care and quality outcomes.
- Develop strategy for building and enhancing their organization's QAPI program
- Create examples of documents to support the QAPI program in the organization
- Appreciate the significance of having a sound QAPI program in the organization
