Cathy E. Duquette, PhD, MBA, RN, CPHQ, FNAHQ is an independent contractor currently providing peer review services for ANCC as a Magnet Appraiser and serving as Editor-in-Chief supporting NAHQ’s Journal for Healthcare Quality.  She also has experience in this capacity providing support of emergency preparedness and response planning with US military and academic organizations in the US and Europe.  Her more than 30 years in healthcare includes roles as executive vice president for quality and safety, and chief nursing executive for Lifespan Corporation; senior vice president and chief quality officer of Rhode Island Hospital; senior vice president and chief nursing officer at Rhode Island Hospital; vice president of nursing and patient care services and chief nursing officer at Newport Hospital, senior vice president at the Hospital Association of Rhode Island; and staff roles in hospital quality improvement and clinical nursing in the critical care setting.

Dr. Duquette received her bachelor and master of science degrees in nursing from the University of Rhode Island, a PhD in nursing from the University of Massachusetts, and her MBA in healthcare administration from Western Governors University.

Dr. Duquette is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality through the National Association for Healthcare Quality where she has also achieved fellowship status.  She is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt; and is board certified as a Nursing Executive, Advanced through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
