Christopher Schmidt is a visionary healthcare executive and clinician amassing 35 years of military and civilian healthcare and leadership experience, passionate for improving clinical operations, quality and safety, and service excellence. Chris held several executive positions of CEO, COO and Vice President, Quality and Patient Safety in several community and regional hospitals in both in Florida and Louisiana. Dr Schmidt served 22 years in the United States Navy Nurse Corps, in medical treatment facilities and overseas combat support operations, retiring at the rank of Commander. In addition to Hospital Administration, Dr Schmidt is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner, practicing in Emergency Departments throughout Northeast Florida. Chris received numerous personal or institutional awards to include Innovation in Patient Care from the Florida Hospital Association, Clinical Nursing Excellence Award from the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States. He served at a national level with the Emergency Nurses Association and co-authored several manuscripts advancing patient safety, pre-hospital and emergency nursing. An educator, he held Associate Clinical Faculty status with the University of Maryland-Baltimore, and functioned as a Specialty Leader, advising the Navy Surgeon General as to issues impacting emergency trauma nursing service wide. Chris has formally presented several quality improvement initiatives in multiple professional conferences both via poster as well as a speaker.
