Deborah Joseph, BSN, RN, is a Quality Coordinator at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana with a focus on sepsis improvement. She has worked in healthcare for 36 years, with clinical experience in the emergency department, intensive care, medical-surgical nursing, and transplant services, including time as a transplant coordinator in Oklahoma City. Deborah also grew up around healthcare, influenced early by her father, who was a physician. During her career she has also served as a house supervisor and worked in core measures prior to transitioning into quality. She became the sepsis coordinator when sepsis was introduced as a core measure and has supported improvement efforts through chart abstraction, data analysis, regulatory review, and frontline education. She collaborates with nursing leaders, physicians, pharmacy, and bedside teams to strengthen sepsis care processes and improve patient outcomes.
