Kristine Harper, RN, MSN, CPPS, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Certified Executive Coach, TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer, and Just Culture Master Trainer, is the System Director of Patient Safety at the Medical University of South Carolina Health System (MUSC Health). With 24 years of nursing experience, Kristine began her career in cardiothoracic care, developing strong clinical expertise in patient mobility, skin integrity, and safety, before transitioning into leadership. As a nurse manager on a general medicine unit, she led interdisciplinary teams to implement evidence-based strategies that improved patient outcomes, with a focus on fall prevention and pressure injury reduction. Over the past eight years, Kristine has co-led MUSC Health’s Just Culture program, embedding principles of accountability, learning, and high reliability from frontline staff to executive leadership. A certified executive coach, Kristine partners with leaders to strengthen safety culture and operational excellence, supporting initiatives such as the systemwide implementation of the FallTIPS program. Her work drives measurable reductions in patient harm, including falls and pressure injuries, while fostering a culture where every team member contributes to safer, high-quality care.
