Liz Carlton is the Senior Vice President of Quality, Safety & Operational Integration at The University of Kansas Health System. She leads the Systems focus for quality and patient safety initiatives; specifically addressing the quest for zero patient harm and empowering healthcare professionals to provide the best and safest care for the patients they serve. This is accomplished by utilizing high reliability principles to design safety standards that are applicable to the academic platform, the community-based facilities, and rural hospitals as well. As the leader for Operational Integration, Liz is responsible for assuring our patients have a seamless experience regardless of system location, aligning processes and resources to provide the best possible outcomes.
Liz received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University, and a Master of Science in Nursing (Adult/Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist) from the University of Kansas. She has over 39 years’ experience in healthcare with a clinical expertise in adult critical care. She holds certifications in Critical Care, Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety. In addition, she has expertise in program development and system design with a focus on quality & outcomes management in a regulatory environment. In her spare time, she loves spending time with family including her children and grandchildren, boating, camping, and riding motorcycles.
