Description:

Healthcare quality and safety-oriented teams are increasingly expected to identify and respond to clinical and operational risks before issues escalate. This 1-hour Learning Lab will focus on how the quality, risk management and safety workforce can recognize emerging risk signals, understand the regulatory and legal context that shapes organizational response, and apply practical tools to help identify and reduce exposure through promoting a culture of transparency, which leads to organizational improvement and safer systems of care.

This Learning Lab will emphasize how teams can connect risk awareness to day-to-day quality work: assessing vulnerabilities, partnering across departments, escalating concerns appropriately, and supporting a culture where risk reduction is part of continuous improvement. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of how to navigate risk conversations and use quality practices to support safer, more reliable care.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify emerging clinical and operational risk signals
  2. Explain the regulatory, legal, and organizational factors that influence risk management decisions
  3. Apply practical risk assessment and communication tools
