Session Description:
High reliability is built through consistent daily behaviors, not theory alone. This practical, case-based webinar, the first in a two-part series, uses the five HRO principles as the structure for applied healthcare scenarios. Examples and case studies will show how leaders can recognize weak signals, respond to small failures, support timely escalation, strengthen Just Culture, defer to expertise & prevent harm, even when teams are navigating staffing shortages and competing priorities.
Each principle will be reinforced through a brief case study or scenario, helping participants connect HRO concepts to the daily routines, decision points, team conversations & follow-up actions they can influence in their own setting. Participants will leave with a focused 30-day plan for beginning or strengthening HRO practices in their organization.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Explain the five principles of high reliability and connect each one to a brief healthcare case study or scenario.
- Use case examples to identify weak signals, reinforce daily safety routines, and determine when escalation or deference to expertise is needed.
- Translate case-study insights into one practical 30-day action that supports reliability behaviors, ownership, follow-up & sustainment.
