NAHQ next 2024 may have come to a close, but, the impact of this inspiring and information packed 2 ½ day event will be felt far into the future.

As the President of NAHQ’s board of directors, I had the honor of introducing each day and moderating many of the incredible sessions. From my front row seat, I was witness to exciting new ideas, innovative new approaches and sustainable new solutions.

I thought Stephanie Mercado’s rousing and powerful keynote address kicked off the event with an empowering rallying cry and really set a theme for all the sessions that followed. She called on all of us to “get into the arena and dare greatly” in order to advance healthcare Quality. She shared impressive examples of Quality leaders who made bold decisions that delivered big results. And she gave us actionable steps for how we too could become true champions of Quality.

After hearing Stephanie’s keynote, I viewed every session from NAHQ next through the lens of daring greatly. This was especially evident on Day 2, which was filled with examples of Work in Action.

We heard how health plans and providers can choose to cut through a sometimes contentious relationship and collaborate to achieve common goals. We explored the bold hypothesis that Quality can be the key to driving the financial success of organizations. And we tackled the subject of AI head on – exploring its powerful potential and its very real challenges.

Day 3 put the focus on YOU, with sessions designed to help us all become Quality champions (because the arena is where champions are made!) and bridge generational divides to all work better together. NAHQ next ended with the enlightening session “Stop & Shift” where a mindset expert shared a mental training technique that helps build resilience, make productive decisions from a place of confidence, and cultivate joy and grit.

At the end of NAHQ next, I felt both inspired and equipped to embrace the call to step into the arena and boldly put Quality in the spotlight. I hope you did too.

As Stephanie said so eloquently, “Join us in a worthy cause….to advance the category of Quality and make healthcare better.” It’s a call to action that supports the point of view that Quality is not only a profession, but also a discipline. That EVERYONE has a role in Quality, no matter their position in an organization. So are you ready to join me… to join NAHQ… to step into the arena and dare greatly for a worthy cause – better Quality, better patient safety, and better healthcare for all.
