Renewing My Commitment to Lifelong Learning

I find the start of a new year to be an ideal time to renew my dedication to professional development and look for new opportunities to continue my commitment to life-long learning.

Last year, I wrote about the exciting launch of NAHQ’s new Micro-Credentials. Each micro-credential in this growing portfolio delves deeply into a specific domain of the NAHQ Healthcare Quality Competency Framework™. The first micro-credential, made available in December, was in Health Data Analytics, which NAHQ research revealed as a growing area with a need for more extensive education.

I am pleased to report I have started the process of earning my first micro-credential. Stay tuned for more details as I achieve this goal and can proudly display my digital badge.

The Health Data Analytics Micro-Credential consists of two informative, relevant courses:

  • Course 1:  focuses on mastering data collection, consolidation, validation, and organization from multiple sources to achieve strategic outcomes.
  • Course 2:  offers critical data visualization tools and techniques, including integrating analysis with visual storytelling and using data to inform prioritization processes, improve outcomes and drive better decisions making.

I highly recommend these courses to all of you. For those who already hold the Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality® (CPHQ®), NAHQ Micro-Credentials offer a fantastic opportunity to level up your skills and gain recognition for specialized areas of expertise. For non-CPHQs, these focused learning experiences provide targeted learning for building knowledge in key domains of the Framework.

I found the experience to be well suited for busy professionals. Here are some benefits I particularly appreciated, and think you will as well:

  • Self-Paced: You can learn at your own convenience, fitting your studies into your demanding schedules.
  • Interactive and Engaging: There is a variety of multimedia content and activities to keep you motivated and engaged throughout your learning journey.
  • Expert-Developed: The materials have been created by leaders in adult learning, ensuring that you receive the most valuable and up-to-date knowledge.
  • Virtual: You can access courses and resources anytime, anywhere.

I encourage you to earn your Health Data Analytics Micro-Credential. And keep an eye out for announcements of future NAHQ Micro-Credentials, including the launch of one focused on Performance and Process Improvement, coming in the spring of 2025.

I can’t wait to continue my learning, and I hope you join me on the journey.
