Locked In, But Not Locked Out: The Power of Gratitude
We all face challenges and obstacles in pursuit of our personal and business dreams. For most of us, those are day to day frustrations to which we often attribute far more weight than we should. For others, like Victoria Arlen, those obstacles include two rare neurological conditions that nearly took her life and left her in a vegetative state, and locked within her own body completely unable to communicate with the outside world for nearly four years. Written off as a lost cause by doctors, Victoria’s family refused to give up. As she slowly began to recover, she spent ten years in a wheelchair during which she became a Paralympic Gold & Silver medal winning swimmer and one of the youngest on-air hosts ever hired by ESPN. Determined to walk again, she did, and then some, not only walking but dancing on ABC’s Dancing With The Stars.
In this not-to-be-missed session, this astonishing millennial shares her remarkable story of resilience and weaves in the themes of gratitude, creativity, relentless hard work and her personal mantra of “Face It, Embrace It, Defy It, Conquer It.” It’s an emotional rollercoaster of powerful storytelling that will take you from tears to cheers and redefine what it means to be inspired.
