I am a dedicated quality improvement and compliance nurse with 13 years of experience. In 2014, at my previous organization (Shirley Ryan AbilityLab), I was the first organizational CNL hired to pilot this innovative new role addressing the critical need to improve the quality of patient care outcomes. The successful pilot spearheaded the role implementation throughout the organization, which stands strong today. After 6 years in the CNL role, I pivoted to a full-time position in quality improvement and accreditation, honing my knowledge in clinical best practices and leadership to drive quality improvement performance measures. In my current position (Gulfside Healthcare Services), I have expanded my knowledge into the area of compliance. Quality improvement and compliance are critical but often siloed areas in healthcare. Coming from a previous organization where the areas were siloed, to now an organization where the departments work synergistically, I can appreciate fostering collaboration to ensure meeting regulatory requirements while addressing key compliance areas that impact quality and patient outcomes. In terms of my speaking experience, I have acted as a regular presenter for various programs in my organization over the years. I have presented clinical topics for AANC certification review courses, leadership topics for new grad presentations, new hire orientation, and multiple staff education programs. At Gulfside, we have successfully implemented the MARC model to promote patient-centered care interwoven with the following quality and compliance initiatives: Continuous Compliance/Survey Readiness, TJC Standards & Publicly Reported Measures, CAHPS initiatives. I am excited for the opportunity to share this knowledge that would translate to multiple healthcare business lines.
