Marc Hoffman, MD

Associate Professor; Medical Director of Quality Improvement - University of Kansas Cancer Center

I have served as the medical director of quality improvement at our cancer center for the last 6 years. In this role, I am responsible for the prioritization and execution of all quality improvement projects and for integrating our objectives with the strategic goals of the health system. While optimization of scores in third-party survey data (Vizient, CG-CAHPS, and HCAHPS) does not in and of itself ensure high-quality care, our experience has been that poor marks in a domain frequently point to opportunities for improved service. My colleague and I are uniquely positioned to present this case study of one such intervention due to (1) our extensive experience in QI and (2) we are a dyad with the administrative perspective of a quality director and the clinical perspective of an academic physician.
