Dr. Shernette R. Kydd is a licensed professional engineer and accomplished operational excellence executive with nearly three decades of experience leading organizational performance improvement, transformation, and innovation across healthcare, manufacturing, service, and nonprofit environments. She began her career as an engineer at General Electric (GE), where she earned Green Belt and Black Belt certifications and developed a lasting passion for helping people and organizations achieve excellence. Lean and Six Sigma remain foundational to her work, strengthened by systems thinking and a broad range of improvement methodologies.
Dr. Kydd currently serves as Assistant Vice President, System Effectiveness at Cook Children's Health Care System in Fort Worth, Texas. She leads the development and execution of enterprise-wide operational excellence and process improvement strategies and provides operational leadership for innovation initiatives. A committed people developer, she mentors employees, coaches leaders, and builds capability to achieve sustainable results.
Since 2013, Dr. Kydd has also served as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Industrial, Manufacturing & Systems Engineering at The University of Texas at Arlington. She shares her expertise in systems thinking, industrial engineering, Lean Six Sigma, process improvement, and operational excellence with the next generation of professionals.
Coming from a family of musicians, Dr. Kydd has always had a natural connection to music, and singing is one of her favorite pastimes. This creative foundation made AI-generated music a natural extension of her growing interest in artificial intelligence. Guided in her early AI learning by her son, she is exploring how AI can create practical value in operational excellence, process improvement, innovation, learning, and organizational effectiveness. She applies emerging tools to strengthen problem-solving, accelerate improvement efforts, support education, and expand knowledge sharing.
At the intersection of artificial intelligence, music, education, and organizational excellence, Dr. Kydd created OPEX Album #1, a first-of-its-kind operational excellence musical album. The multi-genre project teaches Lean, Six Sigma, continuous improvement, and operational excellence principles through music, offering a creative platform for professional development and continuous learning while reaching audiences with diverse musical preferences.
Beyond her professional work, Dr. Kydd has established a personal ministry centered on inspiration, storytelling, faith, and personal transformation. Using AI-generated music and other creative tools, she produces content that encourages reflection, growth, purposeful living, and service. Her music is
available on major streaming platforms under the creator name Dr Sky25.
Originally from St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Dr. Kydd values faith, family, lifelong learning, and service. She enjoys spending time with her family and actively supports her church and local community.
