Looking Back at 2023

It is hard for me to believe that we are approaching the end of 2023, and the conclusion of my term as President of the National Association for Healthcare Quality. It has been a year filled with so many experiences that I will always treasure, and observations about the important work of our organization. I’d like to share a few with you. 

Overall, I have been in awe of the hard work of both the impressive team of NAHQ staff as well as the board. Participation on the board has been an honor as well as a significant amount of work that has resulted in important decisions about growth and impact for the future. I am energized by the directions we are taking! Stay tuned. 

I have learned so much from the amazing speakers at NAHQ next as well as other educational opportunities offered through NAHQ membership. The learnings from these experts have been useful to me as a quality leader and have expanded my awareness and skills. The extraordinary efforts in designing and implementing NAHQ next certainly make an impact, and I can’t wait for the 2024 opportunity! 

I am excited for the continuing opportunities in “rebranding quality” across the country. It has been an honor as President to represent the hard-working, quality professionals who work in service to quality and safety every day. But, it is essential that we engage a broad scope of others in our quality commitment and efforts.  Quality does not only belong to quality professionals! I recognize the progress we have made this year in expanding the rebranding message, and I am committed to continuing that work. 

Finally, I am so grateful for the opportunity to have served as President of this fine organization and for the support I have received in the work. Thank you all for the experience of 2023. I am so optimistic that great work is continuing, and great impact will result.
