Dr. Crystal Smarr’s commitment to healthcare quality spans twenty years. She has extensive work co-producing quality efforts for Medicaid programs with the disability community, people with HIV/AIDS, and diverse cultures. As a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, Crystal understands that quality and health equity are interlocked. Dr. Smarr was invited by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement to develop the first psychometrically sound certification for clinical health equity professionals (CPCHE). Dr. Smarr is advisor for two student organizations at The Ohio State University. The NeuroTech Club is a collaborative community of students who are passionate about neuroscience and emerging technologies. Buckeyes Racial Equity Awareness Centered in Healthcare (BREACH) facilitates conversations on racial disparities in healthcare through education and awareness. Dr. Smarr is a member of the National Council on Interpreting in Health Care (NCIHC). Crystal holds a Doctorate in Healthcare Administration with a focus in education from Franklin University.
