Leveraging World Health Organization Multi-Modal Hand Hygiene Strategies to Improve Residents Compliance.

This poster presentation will include the background, methodology, results, and conclusion of a Quality Improvement Initiative to improve surgical residents hand hygiene compliance in the Ambulatory Surgical Center. The WHO Multimodal Hand Hygiene Improvement Strategy (MHHIS) provides an evidence-based framework designed to support, strengthen, and reduce healthcare-associated infections in healthcare facilities. Surgical residents’ hand hygiene practices in the public ambulatory surgical center from August 2023 to March 2024, baseline performance was 71.1% below the organizational benchmark of 95%. The Hand Hygiene Tableau Dashboard revealed post‑intervention performance averaged 96.5%, demonstrating consistently high performance with minimal variation post implementation of the WHO MHHIS.
