Building a Standardized Pediatric Stroke Pathway From the Ground Up
Pediatric stroke is a time-sensitive emergency requiring rapid recognition and coordinated response. Our organization identified that our existing pediatric stroke protocol was outdated, inconsistently understood, and lacked a formalized process for activation and accountability. Through a multidisciplinary quality improvement approach, we redesigned and implemented a standardized pediatric stroke pathway, including clear activation criteria, defined roles, streamlined communication, and performance metrics. This session will outline our structured methodology, stakeholder engagement strategy, barriers encountered, and lessons learned. Attendees will gain practical insights to assess and strengthen pediatric stroke processes within their own organizations to improve reliability and patient outcomes.
