From Variation To Reliability: Transforming Maternity Care

Variation in high-risk maternity care poses significant risks to patient safety, staff confidence, and clinical outcomes. This project leveraged multidisciplinary collaboration to design, implement, and sustain evidence-based Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) addressing critical maternity processes, including postpartum hemorrhage and severe hypertension. Over two years, maternity-specific CPGs increased from four to twenty-one, while ICU admissions related to postpartum hemorrhage decreased by nearly 50% and severe hypertension by more than 30%. This session is a must-see for leaders and clinicians seeking practical strategies to reduce variation, strengthen interdisciplinary trust, and build high-reliability systems in complex clinical environments.
