Scaling FallTIPS to Reduce Falls and Strengthen Patient Partnership in Adult Units

This project evaluated the impact of implementing FallTIPS across three adult inpatient units to reduce unassisted falls, strengthen nurse–patient partnership, and improve accuracy of declination documentation. Through individualized fall‑prevention plans, K‑card audits, and review of declination data, units achieved a 53% reduction in unassisted falls and improved workflow reliability. Findings highlight the shift from telling patients they are a fall risk to partnering with them in shared decision‑making. Developed with input from a Patient and Family Advisor, this work was presented at an adult inpatient nurse leader forum offering NCPD, where 92% of participants reported confidence to implement FallTIPS.
