Ervin is vice president of clinical and regulatory compliance for the University of Maryland Medical System in Baltimore. As NAHQ’s president, he has devoted more than 30 years as a strong patient advocate in a variety of settings. His roles have focused on quality, risk and compliance, with a special emphasis on troubleshooting to fine-tune areas needing improvement. Emmett received his Doctorate in Healthcare Administration from the Virginia University of Lynchburg. Ervin has held a variety of positions in several state associations for healthcare quality and has served as an administrative surveyor for CARF International for 25 years. He has also served on other human services boards and task forces and continues to speak nationally about quality initiatives. Ervin received his bachelor’s degree in sociology from East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, and his Master of Public Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington.
