Emard is a member of the George Washington University School of Nursing faculty with an adjunct appointment in its School of Medicine and Health Sciences, where she teaches graduate-level courses, primarily in healthcare quality and patient safety. With over 30 years of healthcare executive leadership on a national, regional and local level, she was the chief operating officer for the National Committee for Quality Assurance for 12 years. Prior to that, Emard was a senior vice president for Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and served as president of Harvard Community Health Plan of New England. She is the recipient of numerous national, regional, and local awards of recognition for her service to the nursing community and healthcare in general. Emard has also published several works on the topic of leadership, healthcare quality and patient safety.
